Patient and public involvement and engagement: good practice examples

The way in which healthcare services work with patients, carers and service users can vary. Publicly available examples of good practice for patient and public involvement and engagement are difficult to find. Therefore, the Falls and Fragility Fracture Audit Programme (FFFAP) Patient and Carer Panel developed a patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) resource for healthcare service providers looking to share learning.

The Falls and Fragility Fracture Audit Programme (FFFAP) patient and carer panel have recognised this variability across healthcare services. In a bid to improve collaboration between services and service users, the FFFAP patient and carer panel initiated the idea of creating a platform to share these experiences via case studies.

Alongside the case studies under the downloads section we have created a guide to patient and public involvement in quality improvement and further advice specific to the FFFAP quality improvement virtual collaboratives.

We are asking services participating across the FFFAP audits, who are actively collaborating with their patients and the public, to share their experiences and learning. We hope this will better embed user-led groups and initiatives into service improvement and development.
